Five more rescued Shih Tzus die of Parvo

Brooksville, Florida -- More heartbreak in Hernando County as five more of the 64 Shih Tzus abandoned in Brooksville back in November have died from the Parvo virus.

Shelter officials say the dogs were about to be put up for adoption earlier this month when somehow the virus got into the shelter. There is no cure for Parvo. Shelter workers say they did everything they could to prevent the virus.

Of the 28 surviving dogs, 27 will be put up for adoption after the first of the year, when shelter officials are more certain about their health. One of the dogs has a bad skin condition and won't be adopted out.
